  • The collaboration was created as a campaign to support the April 13 theatrical release of Woman Thou Art Loosed!: On the 7th Day, produced by T.D. Jakes and distributed by Codeblack Entertainment.

Woman Thou Art Loosed!: On the 7th Day is a compelling story that unites love, suspense and faith into one heart-wrenching package. David (Blair Underwood) and Kari (Sharon Leal) Ames seem to have the perfect life until their young daughter is kidnapped, and over the course of seven days they begin to uncover secrets about their past that threaten to rip their marriage and lives apart.

  • It’s a good thing that forgiveness is a predominant theme of Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day, because viewers will have to look deep into their hearts to forgive this kidnapping drama for its heavy-handed melodrama and tawdry plot elements. The second in a series of films shepherded by well-known author and televangelist T.D. Jakes, it somehow manages to be as unsavory as it is purportedly inspirational.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Neema Barnette, Woman Thou Art Loosed!: On the 7th Day underscores the impact of secrets, lies and deception on the lives of the featured characters.

Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day - 2012 - DVD Cover

“Woman Thou Loosed: On the 7th Day” is crammed with enough melodramatic incident for three movies, all of them seemingly scripted by Tyler Perry in a very foul mood. This hysterically overwrought soul sister to “Woman Thou Art Loosed” slaps that 2004 pic’s title on the lurid tale of an abducted child, a mother with a shameful secret and a fire-and-brimstone-spewing serial killer, all in service of a dubiously therapeutic tribute to ravaged-but-resilient black femininity. Target audiences may see it, but they probably will not see that it is good.
